Tips on Using SCRIPS
First and
foremost, PLAN AHEAD!
Some people state they look for businesses that
offer the program and
only
purchase things from there.
Get other people
involved! Ask around if people want to buy
cards. Many people just like the convenience of
not having to run all over the place.
Design a
spending box! This takes some money up front.
Purchase cards for places you frequent and keep
them available. If you want to go out for
dinner or rent movies you pay for it out of the
box. When deciding where to go you will be
limited to using what is in the spending box.
If you are going to spend it anyway, you may as
well get some return. One mom states they
haven’t eaten at McDonald’s in a year because
they don’t offer scrip’s and Burger King gives
back 3%.
Others only buy
cards for necessity items, such as gas,
groceries, prescriptions, etc. This way it is
more controlled.
One family only
buys the high % return items. They don’t mess
around
with the small stuff and only buys cards that
are 8% or more. This way they get a higher
return on things they buy.
Another mom buys cards to use to purchase
presents. She says it is her Christmas Club.
Each week she buys cards and then uses them to
buy gifts for everyone at Christmas time. Good
return on her money and a credit card free
Christmas.
If you know you spend $100.00 per week on
groceries, 25$ on gas in your car and 25$ at the
local pharmacy then by just purchasing those 3
cards gives you a return of $10.50 per week
Over the year this takes $546.00 off of your
tuition for the next school year. Imagine how
much you could save by using cards for all of
your purchases. It has been said that families
have paid their entire tuition by using the
SCRIP program. This is a great way to offset
the expense of tuition. Hope you are finding it
helpful to your family.
